A Cookery challenge at Hever Castle
The Event Concept
320 guests entertained, 16 simultaneous team-building activities and 1 ultimate pie making masterclass. A fun, fast paced cookery challenge at Hever Castle. Held within the grounds, The Edit designed an exciting team building day. The day was designed to challenge guests mentally and physically.
Within the castle's Pavilion kitchen, 2 team members at a time across 7 sessions became chefs. They had the chance to chop, bake pastry, cook and decorate to create the best pies. The challenge was that teams were required to purchase almost everything they needed to make the pies. This included oven time, essential equipment and also luxury ingredients to impress the judges. The only way to earn coins to purchase was to earn them on the wider activities.
Across the day the teams had to complete challenges within the castle grounds to earn coins. These coins could then be spent in the kitchen shop. These included physical activities such as Segway jousting and a boat hunt on the lake. Mental challenges including code breakers and history quizzes. There was also technically challenges such as an acting challenge and also flower arranging workshop.
The entire day worked towards presenting the best pie to the judges at the evening meal. The evening was to be hosted within the moat side marquee. The marquee was decorated with the flower arrangements made during the day. We also followed a rustic theme and included streams of festoon lighting. After dinner the judges tasted the pies! They awarded the top 3 with comments. The winners were then determined by a clap-o-meter based on audience cheering. The evening was then rounded off with a live band and dancing.
